Cyclododecanone (CDON)

Cyclododecanone (CDON), a cyclic aliphatic ketone, is a colorless solid with a melting point of 61 degrees. It's produced by dehydrogenation of cyclododecanol.

CDON is synthesized as an intermediate of the synthesis of laurolactam, a monomer of polyimide 12 (DAIAMID, VESTAMID L).

Laurolactam originates from cyclododecane and is synthesized through cyclododecanol, cyclododecanone and cyclododecanone oxime.

CDON is also used as a UV absorber.
In the fragrance industry, CDON is used to produce synthesized musk, a common fragrance.
