Composite Sheets
R-COMPO® is a composite sheet composed of Polyamide sheet and rubber, which is used in the soles for famous sports shoes, contributing to the realization of outstanding grip, abrasion resistance, and lightweight.
It can also be cut or attached to curved surfaces as needed. In addition, since it uses a Polyamide sheet with a low specific gravity, it is a product that can meet the needs for weight reduction. Due to the bonding of high-performance rubber, the sheet not only has a high grip and abrasion resistance, but also has a good rebounding property due to the elasticity of polyamide.
Since the resin and rubber are bonded together by the chemical bonding, it is possible to bond materials such as silicone rubber, which are generally difficult to bond. The traditional bonding process can be simplified, which can greatly improve work efficiency.
Monomers
- Cyclododecanone (CDON)
It is synthesized as an intermediate in the synthesis of laurolactam, a monomer of Polyamide 12 (DAIAMID®, VESTAMID® L) - Cyloctadiene(COD)
Unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbons with two double bonds. COD is also an important raw material for C8 synthesis - Vinylcyclohexene (VCH)
4-vinylcyclohexene (VCH), an unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon with two double bonds, is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 126 degree. VCH has a pungent odor and is produced by dimerization of butadiene.

Rigid Foams
Rigid foam ROHACELL® is used as the core material of sandwich structures and is rarely used alone. Its foam is made up of 100% closed cells, which make it resistant to creep compression and give it excellent mechanical strength. In addition, the matrix resin penetrates less into the outermost layer of ROHACELL®, resulting in a lighter overall structure.
Sustainability
Aiming for a Sustainable Society
Since October 2023, Evonik in Germany has switched to renewable energy sources such as wind power generation for all electricity used in the manufacturing process of Polyamide 12 "VESTAMID®". All of our products, including those sold in the Japan market, have been switched to using renewable energy.
